An appointment with the neurologist can confirm or rule out a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis and/or give rise to the treatment deemed most appropriate for the patient. The neurologists draw on the medical record, the neurological examination of the patient and the results of the appropriate examinations in each case: magnetic resonance, lumbar puncture, blood analysis, etc.

An appointment with the neurologist may be the first appointment, a second opinion appointment or a follow-up examination. It should be emphasised that all initial patient appointments and treatment decisions are agreed by consensus at the clinical sessions staged weekly by the neurologists of Cemcat and other members of the medical team. The aim is to establish a more personalised treatment.

Neurologists may also refer patients to a Cemcat neuropsychologist if they suspect there is any cognitive deficit or emotional alteration.
