Mar Tintoré M.D., PhD, is Clinical Coordinator of Neurology in the Neurology-Neuroimmunology Department at the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Centre of Catalonia (Cemcat) at the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital in Barcelona, Spain. From June 2023 is the Head of Section of Neurology at the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Centre of Catalonia (Cemcat) at the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital..

She is Professor of Neurology at the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC). She also has an extensive teaching activity as a professor in the Online Postgraduate Master’s Degree in Neuroimmunology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) – Multiple Sclerosis Centre of Catalonia (Cemcat); in the Neurology residency training program (MIR) of the Spanish National Health System at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital; and in the Official Master’s Degree in Advanced Immunology at the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) – Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).

In the field of research, she has been Principal Investigator of the Neuroimmunology Research Group at the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital Research Institute (VHIR) since 2002.


Projects / Lines of Research / Interests

Dr. Mar Tintoré’s research focuses on the initial presentation and diagnostic criteria of demyelinating events, as well as prognostic factors in multiple sclerosis (MS) and the development of dynamic models for predicting prognosis in clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients. Her work also addresses patient-related outcomes and personalized medicine. In addition, she has led longitudinal cohort studies on gender-related aspects of MS, including pregnancy, and on pediatric-onset MS.
